The esports industry has come a long way in the past decades, and the torch bearer is the Valve Corporation. Valve and several esports tournament organizers have been hosting CS: GO tournaments of different tiers with a large prize pool since its launch.

We are into the New Year, and the sports calendar for 2023 is starting to take shape. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s competitive scene has a tight schedule in 2023. There are so many s-tier tournaments to look forward to this year. 

We will be spectating clashes between renowned esports organizations like Heroic, Team Liquid, Outsiders, NAVI, FaZe Clan, G2 Esports, Team Vitality, and others. So, without further ado, let’s look at the three upcoming s-tier tournaments of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2023

  • Venue: Katowice, Poland
  • Dates: January 31 – February 12, 2023
  • Total prize pool: $1,000,000
  • Participating teams: 24
  • Organizer: ESL

Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2023 is an s-tier CS: GO tournament that took place in Katowice, Poland, on January 31, 2023. Twenty-four teams competed against each other in Intel Extreme Masters Katowice. The game format is divided into play-in, group stage, and playoffs. 

Sixteen teams joined in the play-in, and the top 8 participated in the main event with direct qualifying teams. The group stage was held in two groups of 8 units. The top 3 teams joined the playoffs, and the other four went to the quarterfinals. The grand final took place on February 12, 2023.

The tournament offers a total prize pool of $1,000,000. The winning team got $400,000. The team with 2nd place got $180,000, and the 3rd-4th team got $80,000. The winner of this tournament was directly qualified for Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2023. 

Team G2 Esports won the tournament. Team Heroic got 2nd place and Team Liquid and NAVI got 3rd-4th place respectively.

ESL Pro League Season 17

  • Venue: Malta, Europe
  • Dates: February 22 – March 26, 2023
  • Total prize pool:  $850,000
  • Participating teams: 32
  • Organizer: ESL

ESL Pro League Season 17 will take place in Malta, Europe, on February 22, 2023. Thirty-two teams will go up against each other in this offline s-tier CS: GO tournament. The tournament format is divided into Group stages and playoffs. Four groups consisting of 8 teams each will participate in the group stage. The top four teams will be advancing to the playoffs. 

Group stage winners will play in the quarterfinals. Runners-up will advance to the round of 12 with high seeds. Group stage 3rd place and 4th place teams will go to the game of 16 with high and low sources, respectively. The grand final will be going to happen on 26th March.

The total prize pool of $850,000 will be spread among 32 participating teams though the exact prize pool distribution is unknown at the time of writing. The winner of this tournament will be directly qualified for Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2023.

Intel Extreme Masters Spring 2023

  • Venue: Brazil
  • Dates: Apr 17 – 23, 2023
  • Total prize pool: $250,000
  • Participating teams: 16
  • Organizer: ESL

Intel Extreme Masters Spring 2023 will take place in Brazil on April 17, 2023. Sixteen teams will be participating in this s-tier tournament. The tournament format is divided into two stages-group stages and playoffs. Sixteen teams will be divided into two groups and play the group stage. 

The top three teams from each group will advance to the playoffs. Group stage winners will advance to the semifinals. Group stage runners-up will advance to the quarterfinals with high seeds, and 3rd-placed teams will go to the quarterfinals with low seeds. 

The grand final will be held on April 23, 2023. The prize pool of $250,000 will be divided into 16 teams. The winner will receive $100,000; the runner-up will get $42,000. The 3rd and 4th place teams will get $20,000. The winner of this tournament will be directly qualified for Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2023.
