Understand lanes, jungle, and roaming 

In the previous versions of Mobile Legends, it did not have any difference in the three lanes. However, in the revamped Mobile Legends version, there are three different routes with different resource bonuses. These lanes are:

  • A single Jungler is recommended for each team.
• Jungle:
  • Usually used by Tanks or Supports.

Understanding the laning, jungling, and roaming is essential as it affects the team Gold. You and your team need to cover each position to maximize the Gold from minions, creeps, and turrets. Know your role

Emblem talents and spells can be the decider

Mobile Legends offers Emblems that can be assigned to the hero before the match begins. There are nine types of Emblems such as:

• Physical Emblem

• Tank Emblem
• Support Emblem

• Mage Emblem

The game offers 12 battle spells to the players. Each of the battle spells has unique powers. A player can choose only one battle spell per match.

The Turtle and Lord

Two large monsters in the Mobile Legends offer a type of buff to the killer team.

• Turtle: Killing a Turtle provides a shield to the killer team.
• Lord: After killing the Lord, The Lord will fight alongside the team of the killer and assist in pushing the opponent’s tower.

Killing Turle and Lord provides EXP and Gold to the whole team. However, these monsters are hard to kill, and there is a chance of stealing by opponents. Hence, players should call their teammates to take down these monsters together.

Picking heroes, knowing META

While picking heroes, players need to follow the basics and choose heroes according to the laning and roles. A good team requires 3 Laners, 1 Roamer, and 1 Jungler. As the current playing style is adaptive, players can choose different parts from 6 roles, but sufficient damage dealer and tanky heroes are necessary. 

It would be even better if the team had one Tank/Support, one Mage, one Fighter, one Marksman, and one Assassin. If your team already has a Marksman, picking another Marksman is a big NO.

The developers of Mobile Legends are constantly working on the buff and nerfs of the offered heroes. So the players need to know the META. Players need to pick Meta heroes who are most impactful on that version and patch note. Lower-ranked players do not follow Meta and choose random heroes, which affects the team’s overall gameplay.

Mobile Legends has a specific scoring system to determine the MVP of the match. This system is highly dependent upon KDA (Kill, Death, Assist); hence its ADC heroes get the upper hand for grabbing kills. But the game objective of the game is to defend your side of the base and destroy the opponent’s base. 

Killing enemies is fun and shows your dominance over your opponents, but in the long run, chasing your opponents blindly can hurt the pushing progress and match result. 

Know every hero’s skills, utilize active and passive skills

Each of the heroes has a unique set of skills. The complete knowledge of every hero provides an idea of skill types, cooldowns, etc., and how they perform in different enemies. 

Players need to practice the heroes in the training ground and in classic matches to get an outline of the hero’s skills. It can help to master a hero or how to play against the hero if the enemy team picks it.

There is also a thing called counter-picking. You can counter certain heroes with others. For example, Khufra is a counter-pick of Fanny, Gusion, or any hero with dash ability.

Each of the heroes has active and passive skills. Hence before using a hero, it is recommended for the players to check the hero’s skills in practice before using them in the actual Match.

Some of the skills are lock-on skills which will surely hit the enemy without proper aiming. At the same time, some of the skills require strategic use to deal maximum damage to the enemies. Passive skills are automated and will trigger according to the match situation. 

Keep the knowledge of equipment builds, equipment combos, and counters

Mobile Legends have a smaller inventory of equipment than most MOBA games. There are six types of equipment. Those are:

• Attack
• Magic
• Defense
• Movement
• Jungling
• Roaming

Each of the heroes has six slots for equipment in their build. They can purchase equipment from the inventory. Equipment has its type of buff that enhances the player’s damage-dealing power and damage-receiving ability.

You can even combine two equipment items to deal more damage. Example: 

• Lightning Truchon and the Clock of Destiny Combo, Where Clock of Destiny increases mana, and Lightning Truchon deals damage based on mana.
• With Demon Hunter Sword and Golden Staff combo, Demon Hunter Sword basic attacks deal damage based on current hp and provide a bit of life stealth. This can be enhanced with Golden Staff as it does not deal critical damage, so the opponent’s hp gets lower gradually and enhances the attack speed.

Throughout the match, the players have the option to check opponents’ equipment. This may seem overwhelming, but you should check opponents’ builds regularly. There are three types of damage:

• Physical Damage
• Magic Damage
• True Damage

But these damages have counters of their own.

• Physical Damage can be reduced by purchasing equipment with physical defense.
• Magic Damage can be reduced by purchasing equipment with magical defense.
• You can re-counter these defense items with penetration items. 
• True Damage can be countered by purchasing equipment with High HP.

So you need to follow up and try to purchase equipment from the inventory according to the opponent’s hero role and their equipment built in a match.

Watch the map

The mini-map is a small map on the top left corner of the screen. By looking at the mini-map, you can watch the position of your teammates and your enemies positions. In the lower ranks, most players forget to see the mini-map and get ganked by their opponents. 

As mini-maps assist you with the position, it helps you to rotate smoothly on the map and join in ganks or escape from getting ambushed. Looking at the mini-map and tapping on the locations of the map provides an outline of the positioning of your enemies and assists you in strategizing accordingly.

So mini-map will be your guide to participate in gank, predict enemy movements, and avoid ganks.

Getting used to trash talks

In this game, you will encounter toxic and abusive opponents and teammates. Some people like to say horrible things to others, including insults, making fun of gameplay and family, or discriminating with racial and sexist comments. 

You have to get used to it. These are the toxic people who love to be abusive rather than grinding. Ignore them, mute them, or you can even report them after the match. Moonton will deduct their credit score and temporarily ban them from chatting if they are found guilty. 

Watch replays of your game
